FAQ

General

What are your hours of operation?

I am available for appointments in the evenings generally after 5:30 PM Monday through Friday as well as all day Saturday and Sunday. I may be able to schedule appointments during lunch during the week if it is reasonably close to my home. Though I do work a full time job, I am able to respond to emails throughout regular business hours.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please make sure you have the following items:

  • The document(s) needing to be notarized
  • Impartial witnesses if necessary
  • FD-258 card, if provided (fingerprinting only)
  • A state or government issued ID
  • Payment

Your document(s) requiring a notary signature should be filled out but not signed, which will be done in my presence.

Acceptable forms of ID include a state issued driver’s license, state issued identification card, U.S. passport issued by the U.S. Department of State, U.S. military ID, state, county and local government ID, and permanent resident card.

Please see the Services & Rates page for a list of acceptable payment types.

Can I call you to schedule an appointment?

Yes. The best number to reach me at is on the Contact Me page. Please leave a detailed message in case you reach my voicemail. You can also use the form on the page to send a message to me, and I will respond as soon as I am able to. I do work a full time job and will do my best to accommodate your needs as much as my schedule allows.

Can I come to your home for my appointment?

No. I operate from of my private residence and request that my privacy be respected. For your convenience, I will travel to your home, office, or meet you somewhere in the Tri-County area in the evening during the week or on the weekend.

I don’t live in the Charleston area, but I am in South Carolina. Can you help me?

Unfortunately, South Carolina law does not allow remote online notarization (RON). However, I would be open to discuss traveling to your area on a weekend or schedule an appointment to meet with you in the Charleston area to notarize your documents. Please keep in mind that I do work full time and provide these services in the evenings and on the weekends.

Help! I’m in a pinch and need something notarized immediately. Can you help me?

Yes, potentially. I may be able to meet in the middle of the day depending on where you are located relative to me or in the evening after regular business hours for a same day appointment, which would incur an additional fee. Please see the Services & Rates page for details.

Rates

What forms of payment do you accept?

Acceptable payment types are listed on the Services & Rates page.

What does the administration fee cover?

The administrative fee covers the ongoing cost of materials necessary for my business and to maintain my vehicle in order to offer the convenience of traveling to my clients while providing my notary and fingerprinting services.

How can I avoid the same day appointment fee?

The same day appointment fee is charged for same day appointments. Appointments scheduled in advance, even for the following day, avoid the fee.

What is the no show appointment reschedule fee and how can I avoid it?

I understand that things can happen, but please communicate with me if you are unable to make our confirmed appointment and I will do the same. There is no charge to reschedule a confirmed appointment before the appointment time, but there is a $15 charge for rescheduled missed appointments.

Do you offer any discounts on your fees?

Yes, I offer a $5 discount on the administration fee for active duty military, veterans, first responders, teachers, and students. You must let me know when booking if you’re military, a first responder, a teacher, or a student and show a valid ID at your appointment for the discount to be applied.

I need a receipt for my records. Can you provide one?

Yes. Please let me know during our appointment that you need one and I can write one out as we wrap up the appointment.

Notarial Services

Do you only notarize physical documents?

At this time I am only notarizing physical documents. I recently completed the training for eSigning and will update the Services & Rates page when I am able to add eSigning for electronic documents.

Can you tell me how to fill out my paperwork?

No. Please consult the individual or office that advised you that the document was needed. I am not a licensed attorney and cannot provide any legal advice pertaining to the documentation.

I am organizing an event and need a notary public on hand. Is this something you do?

Absolutely! I have done events in the past where I was the notary public on hand. I found it to be a rewarding experience and would be open to offering my services again. My fee schedule would be different from individual appointments, which would be laid out in a contract specifically for the event. Please use the form on the Contact Me page to tell me about your event and the anticipated volume of documents requiring a notary.

If I need an authentication or apostille, will you submit my documents to the South Carolina Secretary of State on my behalf?

Yes, for a fee. Once the document(s) are notarized I will send them via UPS next day delivery to the Secretary of State’s office in Columbia, SC. The document(s) will be returned directly to you with the authentication or apostille attached. It is your responsibility to then send them to the appropriate foreign office. I also offer expedited/rush service where I will travel to Columbia to submit your documents in person.

Fingerprinting Services

I don’t have the FD-258 card. Will you provide one?

Yes, one FD-258 card is included in each appointment if one was not provided to you by the agency requesting your fingerprints. Additional cards will be available for $2 per card.

Do I need to come to you for a fingerprinting appointment?

No, I offer this as a mobile service, so I will come to you at your home, business, or other public location.

I’m organizing an event for students who need to be fingerprinted. Is this something you do?

Certainly! My fee schedule would be different from individual appointments, which would be laid out in a contract specifically for the event. Please use the form on the Contact Me page to tell me about your event and the anticipated number of attendees needing to be fingerprinted.

I need something notarized as well as be fingerprinted. Will I be charged the administration fee twice?

No. The administration fee is charged per appointment, so needing both services in the same appointment won’t have that fee twice.
